NUVELL Debuts the World’s First Fully Automatic Home Tofu Maker at IFA
Consumers seeking to make plant milk and tofu at home could soon have a single appliance designed to automate both processes, from grinding ingredients through pressing finished tofu.
Startup NUVELL presented its Home Plant Protein System at IFA 2026 in Berlin, describing it as a fully automatic home tofu maker that also produces plant milks, including soy, oat and almond varieties. The company’s claims regarding its status as the first such product were not independently established in the announcement.
The system is intended to replace several manual tofu-making stages. Users select a product and settings, while the machine manages grinding, heating and filtering. For tofu, it also handles coagulation, draining and pressing, according to NUVELL.
The appliance is still in development, and its final specifications have not been set. NUVELL said a plant-milk cycle is expected to produce as much as 1.2 liters in about 15 to 25 minutes. A tofu cycle is expected to take roughly 30 to 60 minutes and yield 150 to 200 grams, depending on ingredients and settings.
Users would be able to adjust plant-milk volume, concentration and consistency, while tofu settings would allow for different levels of firmness, the company said. The system adjusts factors including temperature, timing, blending and pressing based on those choices.
NUVELL is positioning the appliance at the intersection of two existing countertop categories: plant-milk makers and tofu presses. Its approach resembles automated coffee machines in that users choose an end product rather than manage each preparation step individually.
The company also said the machine will include automated rinsing and deeper cleaning programs, including descaling, with removable components intended for separate cleaning. NUVELL displayed the system at Hall 25, Stand 165 during IFA 2026.
