Texas school districts participating in the state’s K–12 cybersecurity initiative will be able to use PDQ’s endpoint-management software without direct licensing costs, with access funded through the program.
PDQ said it was selected by the Technology Alliance for Statewide Initiatives, or TASI, to provide software deployment capabilities for the initiative. The program is administered through ESC Region 13 on behalf of Texas’ 20 Education Service Centers.
Participating districts will receive PDQ’s Premium tier for Windows and macOS devices. The software can be used to deploy applications and endpoint detection and response agents, apply patches, identify vulnerabilities and remove local administrator privileges, according to the company.
The arrangement is intended to give districts—particularly those with limited IT staffing—centralized tools for managing devices and applying security controls. Districts will still need to meet enrollment and local administrative requirements through their regional Education Service Center.
Phased onboarding is scheduled to start Oct. 1 and continue through 2027 and beyond, PDQ said.
PDQ, a Salt Lake City-based provider of endpoint-management software, said it already serves more than 186 Texas K–12 customers across all 20 Education Service Center regions. The company said its existing customers include Brownsville ISD and Eden CISD.
