GED Testing Service highlights post-credential career routes on National GED Day

Adult learners who earn a GED are increasingly using the credential as a step toward workforce training, college programs and career advancement in fields with labor needs.

GED Testing Service marked National GED Day on Sept. 16 by emphasizing education-to-employment pathways in healthcare, manufacturing, skilled trades and technology. The organization said the observance is intended to focus on opportunities available after learners complete the high school equivalency credential.

The campaign includes the experience of a GED graduate who entered healthcare as a medical assistant and is continuing her education with the goal of advancing in the field, according to GED Testing Service.

The organization said it is seeking to draw attention to adult education as a route into training programs and occupations that can require additional credentials beyond a GED.
