VMFA Opens Ticket Sales for Dallas Museum of Art Impressionism Exhibition

Richmond visitors will be able to see works by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Berthe Morisot, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse and other artists in a traveling exhibition opening at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in November.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has begun selling tickets for The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse from the Dallas Museum of Art, scheduled to run from Nov. 14, 2026, through April 4, 2027.

Organized by the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibition traces Impressionism from the movement’s beginnings in 1874 through its influence on early 20th-century modern art. The show will include works by Monet, Degas, Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Paul Cézanne, Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Matisse and Paul Signac, according to VMFA.

Adult admission will cost $20, while tickets for people 65 and older will be $16. Youth ages 7 to 17 and college students with identification can purchase tickets for $10. Admission will be free for VMFA members, children 6 and under, Virginia state employees, and preschool through high-school teachers.

Visitors presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer card can receive tickets for $2 each, up to four tickets per card, through the Museums for All program. Active-duty military personnel, National Guard and Reserve members, and their immediate families will receive free tickets under the Blue Star Museums program.

The exhibition was curated by Nicole R. Myers, the Dallas Museum of Art’s Barbara Thomas Lemmon senior curator of European art. At VMFA, Sylvain Cordier, head of the museum’s European art department, and Theresa A. Cunningham, associate curator of European art and the Mellon Collections, are coordinating the presentation.

VMFA will hold an opening talk with Myers at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. Tickets for the lecture are $8 for the public and $5 for museum members.

The museum also plans a free Monet birthday event on Nov. 14, featuring cupcakes, music from DJ Monea and an art-making activity. A two-day academic conference, Reconsidering Impressionism, is scheduled for Jan. 29 and 30, 2027. Michael Marrinan, professor emeritus of art history at Stanford University, is set to deliver the keynote lecture on Renoir’s 1873 painting Argenteuil.

VMFA said the exhibition is presented by Altria and supported by a range of individual, foundation and corporate sponsors.
