Axe Compute Sells Helomics AI Cancer Diagnostics Lab Business to DataMEDS AI, Completing Transition to Neocloud GPU-as-a-Service platform
Axe Compute Divests Helomics in Stock Deal, Sharpening Focus on GPU Cloud Services
Axe Compute has sold its Helomics cancer diagnostics laboratory subsidiary to DataMEDS AI in an all-stock transaction, leaving the Pittsburgh company focused solely on its GPU-as-a-service infrastructure business.
Axe Compute, which trades on Nasdaq under the symbol AGPU, received DataMEDS common shares and common-share equivalents as consideration for Helomics. The terms, including the number and value of shares issued, were not disclosed. Axe Compute said it expects to detail the transaction in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The deal gives Axe Compute an equity position in DataMEDS while removing the final operating business associated with its former identity as Predictive Oncology. Axe Compute changed its name in December 2025 as it shifted toward providing cloud-based graphics-processing-unit capacity for artificial intelligence workloads.
Helomics, based in Pittsburgh, uses artificial intelligence and tumor data in a functional precision-medicine oncology platform intended to support drug discovery and cancer-treatment decisions. Under DataMEDS, the business will become part of a health-information technology company with operations spanning pharmacy, telemedicine and healthcare-data platforms.
Christopher Miglino, Axe Compute’s chief executive, said the sale allows the company to direct its personnel, capital and operations toward growing demand for AI computing infrastructure while retaining exposure to Helomics through its DataMEDS holdings.
DataMEDS Interim Co-Chief Executive Gerald Commissiong said the acquisition moves the company into oncology and will be paired with its data-driven healthcare operations.
Axe Compute’s remaining business centers on two services: access to high-performance GPU infrastructure across multiple locations and deployment of dedicated large-scale AI infrastructure for enterprise customers. The company said its focus is on providing hardware, geographic and deployment flexibility to AI developers and businesses.
